10,000 Doses Administered at CCH COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

2021-06-25

The Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) has administered over 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines at its onsite Vaccination Clinic, representing nearly a third of all 35,000 vaccine doses administered at sites within the City of Cornwall.

“We are happy to be working with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit to offer residents in Cornwall with more access to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Every dose administered brings us one step closer to ending the pandemic, and I couldn’t be more proud of our CCH team for reaching this milestone,” said Jeanette Despatie, President and CEO of CCH.

The Vaccination Clinic, located in the hospital’s main entrance, has been operating since March 13, 2021, originally intended to safely vaccinate the highest-risk residents and frontline workers in partnership with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, but is now accommodating all eligible bookings through the provincial website.

Over 170 doses are being administered at the clinic each day and that number will be increasing in the coming weeks as the hospital expands the clinic’s capacity.

“We have been working to organize and operate the clinic so that it runs efficiently, effectively, and above else, safely for everyone,” added Despatie.

With increasing supply of Moderna’s vaccine now available, CCH is also reminding people to take the first brand offered, whether for your first or second dose. Provincial health officials have recently deemed both Pfizer and Moderna’s mRNA COVID-19 vaccines as interchangeable.

“This is especially important to consider as the province moves up its timelines for administering second doses due to the emerging Delta variant. The best vaccine for your second dose is the vaccine that is available first,” reinforced Despatie.

Everyone aged 12 and older are now eligible to receive their first dose, and booking is now underway for certain individuals to receive their second dose. For more information and to book your vaccine appointment, please visit the EOHU website at www.eohu.ca.
