Ontario Investing $6.5 Million to Support Hospital Operations across SDG

The Ontario government is investing $6,513,300 million to support improved
operations and reduced wait times at the Cornwall Community Hospital, Winchester District
Memorial Hospital, and the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph of Cornwall. This funding is part of a
$1.1 billion investment into our hospital sector as part of Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario,
which represents a 4 per cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.
“In order to have a healthy SDG, our communities need access to efficient, effective hospitals and
health care providers,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “Through this
investment, our government is ensuring our hospitals can continue to deliver the high-quality, lifesaving care for our families, close to home.”
This investment will support the operations of Cornwall Community Hospital, Winchester District
Memorial Hospital, and the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph of Cornwall’s core clinical services
so they can better meet patient needs. This includes funding to help keep their emergency
department open, support inflationary or other wage pressures, and reduce wait times for diagnostic
imaging and surgical procedures, including MRI, CT, cardiac, stroke, neuroservices, orthopedics
and cataracts, so that people can connect to care faster.

Community Hospital, Winchester District Memorial Hospital, and the Religious Hospitallers of St.
Joseph of Cornwall to continue delivering the highest standard of care while reducing wait lists and
wait times for patients and families, for generations to come.”

community, support the incredible people who deliver them, and continue adapting our care to the

Ontario continues to make historic investments in health care. Over the next 10 years, Ontario is
investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province,
which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and
build a connected, people-first health-care system.

- The Ontario government is investing $257 million in 2025-26 to support critical infrastructure
upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 66 community health-care facilities across the
province, a 12.3 per cent increase from the previous year.
- In 2025-26, Cornwall Community Hospital and Winchester District Memorial Hospital are
receiving over $1.7 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, to support the
critical infrastructure needs of their hospitals.
