...and CCH’s performance in regards to their Quality Improvement Plan. There were also patient survey results featuring 96.6% of respondents answering they were always, or usually treated with courtesy and respect by CCH’s physicians and nurses.
Those in attendance heard from Board Chair Nancee Cruickshank, Auxiliary President, Geraldine Deneault and a report from the auditors. Jeanette Despatie, President and CEO also highlighted in her speech, “CCH’s quest for enhanced quality and improved patient safety has been realized across the organization, from excellent performance in the Women and Children’s Health Department to the introduction of the National Surgical Quality improvement Program in the operating Room, all the while continuing our work on optimizing and increasing functionality of our Electronic Health Record.” Dr. Lorne Scharf, Chief of Staff commented on the hospital’s recent achievement of being the first hospital in Canada to be designated as a “Choosing Wisely” hospital by reducing unnecessary testing and patient harm. Amy Gillespie, Executive Director of Cornwall Hospital Foundation focused on the Foundation’s growth over the last year with 629 new donors.
There were changes to the membership of the Board of Directors, with some long-time serving members at the end of their terms. Melanie Baker-Brown and Dan Parkinson have served their full 9-year term and were presented with acknowledgement plaques for their time as volunteer board members. Two new board members are Dale McSween and Shawna Spowart.
Following the Annual General Meeting, the Board elected a new Board Chair, Debora Daigle and Vice chairs Josee Payette and Yvonne Bakker. Board meetings will resume in September.
