CCH Celebrating Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Month
Cornwall Hospital has been a member of the Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) since June of 2013 and participates in Ontario’s Routine Notification Program. Cornwall Hospital staff report impending patient deaths so that TGLN staff can identify potential donors and approach families to re-affirm consent. In the last 3 years there have been 30 organ and tissue donors from Cornwall Hospital. We know that in Cornwall, there are currently five people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant.

Cornwall Hospital and Foundation celebrate opening of Chemotherapy Unit
Donors, staff and stakeholders gathered at Cornwall Hospital today to see the newly renovated area on level 5 which is now the home of our local chemotherapy unit.

Chemotherapy, also known as systemic therapy, is a service that the community has been requesting for some time. It was identified in the hospital’s 2010-2015 strategic plan. “It feels great to deliver on such an impactful commitment,” expressed Jeanette Despatie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cornwall Hospital. “Donors, staff and our health care partners should all be proud today, we know that this service will have a tremendous impact on the lives of patients and families across our community.”
